Wilkes-McLean NACOL

Progressive Power & Control is an Indiana distributor of Wilkes-McLean hydraulic products such as hydraulic suppressors and NACOL hydraulic top-loading accumulators.

NACOL accumulators are designed to avoid common problems with accumulators bladders such as:

  • Pinched bladder - NACOL accumulators use a "cushion cup" to protect the bladder from being pinched by the poppet, thereby avoiding the common accumulator failure caused by a cut in the bladder.
  • Pre-closure - To avoid pre-closure, NACOL uses a heavy duty spring to hold the poppet open, allowing all of the oil to completely discharge from the accumulator chamber.
  • NACOL's Fire Fuse - NACOL meets all fire safety standards for accumulators. Using their patented "Fire Fuse", NACOL accumulators vent their nitrogen gas in case of fire or exrtreme heat, avoiding the possibility of explosion.
  • Pleated Bladders - NACOL accumulators employ a pleated bladder that compresses in a uniform "star-shaped" manner, avoiding the uncontrolled deformation and twisting seen in lesser bladder systems.
  • Safety Vent - Discharges pressure as top cap is unscrewed to prevent accidentally removing the top cover of a fully charged accumulator.
  • Horizontal or vertical mounting - Most accumulators must be mounted vertically to avoid wear on the bladder from the rough interior of the accumulator chamber. The interior tube (chamber) of all NACOL accumulators (1.5 gallon and larger) are polished to a smooth finish and then coated in a white acrylic resin to avoid bladder wear, making horizontal mounting a possibility. The cushion cup and stronger poppet spring also contribute to NACOL's ability to function properly when horizontally mounted.
  • Seamless Bladders - NACOL's seamless one piece bladders eliminate the the nautral leak points (seams) that so frequesntly cause bladder failures in other accumulators.

Wilkes-McLean Hydraulic Suppressors

Reducing hydraulic noise pollution:

Suppress noise, shock vibration and pulsation in your hydraulic systems with hydraulic suppressors. Supressors are inline devices that reduce the noise in hydraulic power units much like a muffler on a car, making the system quieter by absorbing the sound, as well as reducing hydraulic pulsation and hydraulic shock. Suppressors can reduce the noise by up to 60% as well as reducing harmonic noise from dual pump systems.
